Monday, July 30, 2012

I still don't have any pics up or any projects. I have finished on jumper, but the great thing is we have air conditioning! Sears fixed it on July 20 and then tried to come back again on the 24th. Talk about the right hand not knowing what the left is doing.

The dogs are cool but I still haven't done any canning. The only thing I have left are blueberries for jelly. I am waiting until we get below 100.

The big chickens are on strike. Only four eggs this morning. I gave them tomatoes & cucumbers this morning. Maybe tomorrow will be better, but it so hot for them, they don't eat alot of feed to make eggs.

That's about it. Tomorrow is a doctor's appointment in Rockwall, but no blood draws, I hope. I have an infusion for my RA on Thursday, but Friday is massage day! So I can look forward to that, in the meantime, I will have to choose a book to read just in case I don't get a tv in my cubie!

The will probably be "Myths about Thomas Jefferson", I think that is the title. It is by David Barton, a Texan, and expands on the myths we have heard about Thomas Jefferson.  I am still on the first one about the child with Sally Hemmings. Geneologists think one of his brothers or nephews fathered her children. There is no DNA for Jefferson, so we can't really do a comparison.

Anyway, will keep you updated on the garden, dogs, and sewing.  Hopefully, the grasshoppers will leave, my DH mowed the tall grass in the old garden and sprayed my lemon & lime tree.  They look pitiful with all the leaves eaten off.  They aren't eating the Aloe Vera plant this year. I don't know why.

Till the next time.

It is Too Hot not to Have A/C

It is now July 17th and I am writing my first post after creating the blog in May.  Oh, well I guess
it is better late than never.  I just returned from a trip to visit my grands and taught my granddaughter and her cousin sewing basics. I had them sew strips of fabric together.  My granddaughter took to the machine like a fish to water.  Her cousin seemed to love it too.  I will post pics as soon as I download them to my computer.  I am still recovering from the visit and now have no a/c at home.  So have been inside except for feeding the outside dogs and the chickens in my backyard.

My three pugs are also suffering.  They receive a water dousing once a day and then lay in front of the fan to relax.  We sleep on the pull out sofabed and my husband sleeps on the porch, unless we have a rain shower before sunset.  It seems like nothing is going the way I planned.  I wanted the a/c fixed when I came home so I could finish my granddaughters dresses.  So now I sit and wait, but it seems that Sears isn't too worried about me or my husband because the temp is not above 100.  Please, my unit is less than two years old.

That's it for today.  I will fix a banner and other info later. Lots of things to do when the a/c is fixed among the sewing dresses, I need to put up peppers, beans, and tomatoes.  Still have to dig potatoes but since it is so warm we are waiting for the a/c so we have someplace cool to go after working in the heat for a couple of hours.  That is enough in this East Texas sun and that was before the temps were reaching 100.
